Share A Slice of Heaven - Baked from the Heart Pie Contest

February 28, 2019

Calling all pie bakers! Submit your favorite original pie recipe to our “Baked from the Heart” pie contest. Be one of the three finalists for our ultimate bake-off and have your pie tasted by a panel of VIP judges, who will choose the “Baked from the Heart” champion.

Contest Information & Entry

Inspired by Adrienne Shelly's beloved film, Waitress tells the story of Jenna - a waitress and expert piemaker who dreams of a way out of her small town and loveless marriage. A baking contest in a nearby county and the town's new doctor may offer her a chance at a fresh start, while her fellow waitresses offer their own recipes for happiness. But Jenna must summon the strength and courage to rebuild her own life.

The musical is full of life-inspired pies - the good, the bad and the berry!

Some of Jenna’s pies include: Kick in the Pants Pie, Marshmallow Mermaid Pie, I Hate My Husband Pie, A Little Wild Berry Pie, Lulu’s Strawberry Dream Pie and Sweet Victory Pie. Contestants are asked to share a pie recipe, creative name and story behind the pie. It’s amazing what baking can do - enter the contest and find out!

The "Baked from the Heart" pie contest will be broadcast on a very special episode of “Good Day NWA,” airing on Pi Day, March 14!

Every entry must include:

  • Creative Recipe Name

  • Ingredients in order, complete and typed recipe with clear directions

  • Photo of the completed pie

  • Special history or your story behind why this recipe is your favorite

Submissions must be received by Friday, March 1. Finalists will be contacted directly and announced on March 6, at which time contestants should begin prepping and perfecting their pies to be tasted during the filming of “Good Day NWA” on March 8. Finalists MUST bring a fresh-baked pie for our panel of judges and MUST be available for live judging and filming 10am-noon on March 8 at Walton Arts Center. You must be 18 or older to enter.

The winner of the contest will receive:

  • Four tickets to WAITRESS (Wednesday, April 10) at Walton Arts Center

  • A special feature on the March 14 episode of “Good Day NWA”

  • Their winning recipe inserted into Sugar, Butter, Flour: The Waitress Pie Book sold at the merchandise kiosk during the run of WAITRESS (April 9-14)

  • The opportunity to serve their winning pie at our preshow media reception on Wednesday, April 10 at 6pm

Additional finalists will receive:
